I am very grateful to one of our 8th graders here at St. Anthony's who chose to organize a Midight Run as an outreach project in preparation for her Confirmation. All the information you need to participate or support this outreach to the homeless can be found on this page that she has put together for you. Please pray for the homeless, especially during this difficult time of year.
A Midnight Run is an drive to help support the homeless and less forunate. We are specifically reaching out to the homeless in New York City. It begins with a request for donations of jackets and winter accessories, clothing, toiletries, socks, undergarments, food, and water. Once these items are collected, they are sorted and packed into vehicles ready to be transported to designated areas in NYC at or around midnight. We are about to begin the first part of the process, namely, collecting items for distribution. Your help would be most appreciated! Here is how you can help.
Beginning on Monday, December 21st, six containers will be set up in the vestibule of St. Anthony's Church. Each container is labeled with the name of the item(s) that we are collecting for the homeless. Please take a look at the list to the right to see if there is any way you might be able to help. Please note that we are able to accept lightly used jackets. All other items such as undergarments etc. should be new. All food items should be nonperishable. Monetary donations are also appreciated to purchase persiable items for the day of the run.
