It's amazing how quickly things can change! Within hours of posting an Archdiocesan directive about limitations with respect to Mass attendance, an announcement was made that Masses are CANCELED in the Archdiocese of New York. That policy is in effect here at St. Anthony's until we are given further notice. Even though the option to not attend Mass was always there in light of the extenuating circumstances related to the virus, perhaps the Cardinal did this to remove any concern of conscience amongst members of our communities who are more vulberable to this virus with respect to "having" to attend Mass. I will post any updates I receive with regard to how long this will be in effect. Many people will no doubt have not been made aware of this most recent restriction concerning Mass and will be showing up for Mass at the scheduled times this weekend. Given that as priests we celebrate Mass whether or not there is a congregation, we will be there at each of the scheduled Mass times offering our private Mass for the scheduled intention. The Church will be opened all day every day as usual for private prayer. Please email or call at any time if you wish to receive any of the sacraments of the Church.
